Each sheet prints on one side of A4. Use the PDF for printing and the image if you want to save or pin it.
1. Trace and write A
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital A first, then lowercase a.
2. Find and color every A
A grid of mixed letters with A and a hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the A words
Three boxes, apple, ant, arrow, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter A
Capital A: Two slanted lines meeting at a point, then a bar across the middle.
Lowercase a: A circle first, then a straight line down the right side.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: Lowercase a is often written as an o with a stray line. Starting with the circle and closing it fully fixes most of it.

1. Apple stamping
Halve an apple, dip it in paint and stamp rows of prints. Count them, then write an A beside each.

2. Ant trail
Draw a long line across paper and have your child fingerprint ants along it. Say “a-a-ant” with each print.

3. A hunt in the alphabet
Open any picture book and hunt for capital A on one page. Tally them.
