1. Trace and write K
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital K first, then lowercase k.
2. Find and color every K
A grid of mixed letters with K and k hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the K words
Three boxes, kite, key, koala, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter K
Capital K: A tall line, then two slanted lines meeting it in the middle.
Lowercase k: The same, smaller.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: k and x both use slanted strokes; k keeps its upright line. Trace the upright first and the rest follows.

Fly a kite, or run with a paper one on string. Say “k” on each launch.

Put paper over keys and rub with a crayon to reveal them.

Kick a ball and name a k word each time.
