How to form the letter C

Writing Cc
How to write the letter CThe letters C and c drawn on handwriting rules, with numbered marks showing where each stroke starts.capital1lowercase1

Capital C: One curve, starting at the top and sweeping round to the left and down.

Lowercase c: The same curve, half the height.

Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.

Watch for: C is the base shape inside a, d, g, o and q. Getting the curve right pays off across six letters, so it is worth extra time.

What sound does C make?

Hard c as in cat, but soft as in circle before e, i and y. Teach the hard sound alone at this age.
