1. Trace and write E
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital E first, then lowercase e.
2. Find and color every E
A grid of mixed letters with E and e hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the E words
Three boxes, egg, elephant, eight, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter E
Capital E: A line down, then three bars out to the right, top, middle, bottom.
Lowercase e: A short bar across, then a curve round from it. Unusual: it starts in the middle, not the top.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: Lowercase e often gets a loop that closes shut. Keeping the opening visible is the fix.

1. Egg carton E
Cut an egg carton into strips and glue them as the three bars of a capital E.
You will need: Egg carton, glue.
2. Elephant trunk
Draw an E and add a trunk, turning the middle bar into it.
You will need: Crayons.
3. Eight of everything
Collect eight of one thing, eight spoons or eight socks. Counting to eight and the letter reinforce each other.
