How to form the letter E

Writing Ee
How to write the letter EThe letters E and e drawn on handwriting rules, with numbered marks showing where each stroke starts.capital1234lowercase1

Capital E: A line down, then three bars out to the right, top, middle, bottom.

Lowercase e: A short bar across, then a curve round from it. Unusual: it starts in the middle, not the top.

Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.

Watch for: Lowercase e often gets a loop that closes shut. Keeping the opening visible is the fix.

What sound does E make?

Short e as in egg. Also the most common silent letter in English, at the end of cake and bike.
