1. Trace and write F
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital F first, then lowercase f.
2. Find and color every F
A grid of mixed letters with F and f hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the F words
Three boxes, fish, frog, flower, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter F
Capital F: A line down, then a bar at the top and a shorter one across the middle.
Lowercase f: A curve at the top, straight down, then a small bar across.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: f and t both have a crossbar. f curves at the top, t is straight, point at the top, not the bar.

Glue feathers along a drawn F. Light, tickly and memorable.

2. Frog jumps
Jump like a frog and say an f word on each landing.
You will need: Space to jump.
3. Fish in a bowl
Draw a bowl and add a paper fish for every f word your child names.
