1. Trace and write G
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital G first, then lowercase g.
2. Find and color every G
A grid of mixed letters with G and g hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the G words
Three boxes, goat, grapes, gift, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter G
Capital G: A c curve, then a short bar in at the middle right.
Lowercase g: A circle, then a line down that hooks left below the line.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: g descends below the baseline, and children often float it. Drawing the baseline first and naming it helps.

Cut green paper into strips and glue them along a G as grass.

Wrap a small box and label it with a large G.
