1. Trace and write T
A solid letter to copy, then dashed guides, then blank handwriting rules. Capital T first, then lowercase t.
2. Find and color every T
A grid of mixed letters with T and t hidden through it. This builds recognition rather than handwriting, so it works before a child can write. Both cases appear. Plenty of children learn the capital and then do not recognize the lowercase.
3. Draw the T words
Three boxes, tree, train, tiger, with the word to trace and room to draw it.
How to form the letter T
Capital T: A bar across the top, then a line down from its middle.
Lowercase t: A line down, then a bar across near the top.
Say the movement out loud while your child writes. Naming the strokes does more than showing them.
Watch for: The crossbar sits at the top of t but midway on f. t is straight; f curves.
What sound does T make?
A tap of the tongue, as in tree. Often lost at the end of words in speech.
